MaKenna Hartle, a sixth-grader, explains her project that compared hydroponics with aquaponics at the West Valley Science Fair on Monday. Last year, Hartle did a comparison of soil and hydroponics. In both cases she found that hydroponics worked better within the restrictions of her test, which was limited to a three-month trial. Hartle won the Reserve award in sixth-grade biological science.
