The second community project for Leadership Flathead benefited the Humane Society of Northwest Montana.

The event centered around the Shake Your Tail Gala held Saturday in downtown Whitefish and featured 100 dog bowls handmade by students from Whitefish and Columbia Falls high schools. The bowls were auctioned off and the proceeds will benefit the Humane Society.

The top-10 bowls — as selected by students — will be put on the Facebook page for Park Side Federal Credit Union where the community can vote for their favorite.

The student’s bowl that gets the most “likes” will be given a $250 scholarship, second place will get $100, and third will get $50. Voting will continue until the end of March with prizes being awarded in April.
