The fish are biting and spring is in the air, which means it's time for annual fishing seminars at Mark's Marine.

This year's seminar series runs from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursdays through April 9 at Mark's Marine, 14355 N. Government Way, along U.S. 95.

Greg Koch, a longtime member of the Spokane Walleye Club, is this week's speaker.

Organizers said Koch will bring to the seminar a wealth of fishing knowledge - his own, and that gleaned from successful walleye fishermen on the club circuit.

"Early fishing reports for walleye are quite good and it looks to be a fantastic year for walleye fishing," stated a press release announcing the seminar. "With the newly revamped tournament circuit, Greg's tips are sure to help both novice and experienced walleye fisherman catch fish."

The series will continue with a variety of speakers and subjects:

* March 19: "Salmon Fishing on Lake Coeur d'Alene," presented by Fins and Feathers tackle and bait shop, Coeur d'Alene

* March 26: "Pike fishing," by Brock Marrow

* April 2: "Rainbow trout fishing on Lake Roosevelt," by Benita Galland; "Fishing Lake Pend Oreille," by Roger Blackstone

* April 9: "Understanding your sonar," by Mike Pentony; "GoFree Insight Genesis mapping," by Kevin Lunde.
