Schools set calendar for next year

The 2015-16 school calendar for Kalispell Public Schools was approved by school trustees Tuesday.

The first day of school for students will be Aug. 31 and the last day will be June 10, 2016. Snow makeup days are slated Feb. 15 and June 11 and 12.

Winter break is Dec. 24 through Jan. 1, 2016, and spring break will be March 28 through April 1, 2016.

There will be a total of seven days scheduled throughout the year for professional development. Early dismissal dates for professional development, parent/teacher conferences and the Class AA Speech and Debate tournament have yet to be finalized.

The grading periods for kindergarten through eighth grade are as follows:

The first trimester is Aug. 27 through Nov. 24; the second trimester is Nov. 30 through March 4, 2016, and the third trimester is March 7, 2016 through June 8, 2016.

Aug. 31 — First day of school

Sept. 7 — No school, Labor Day

Oct. 15-16 — No school, professional development conference

Nov. 4 — End of first quarter

Nov. 24 — End of first trimester

Nov. 25 — No school, teacher training

Nov. 26-27 — No school, Thanksgiving break

Dec. 24-Jan.1 — Winter break

Jan. 18 — No school, Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Jan. 22 — End of semester/second quarter

Jan. 25 — No school, teacher training and staff orientation

Feb. 15 — No school, Presidents Day (snow make-up day)

March 4 — End of second trimester

March 25 — End of third quarter

March 28-April 1 — No school, spring break

April 1 — Teacher training

April 8 — No school, music festival

May 30 — No school, Memorial Day

June 10 — Last day of school

June 11 — Snow make-up day

June 12 — Snow make up day
