The additions to the North 40 Outfitters store (formerly Big R) look gigantic. One would be sure that when done it will be the largest business building in Coeur d'Alene.

But the city building department says, "Uh uh."

North 40 Outfitters, officially at 170 E. Kathleen Ave. (just east of Government Way) will be 109,723 square feet when complete in mid-summer. Hang on for what the changes will include.

However, the city says Lowe's (901 W. Appleway) is our biggest place at 207,135 square feet. Following are Costco Wholesale at 130,497 and Home Depot at 129,668.

Probably what's most noticeable about North 40 is the change, growing from 28,000 square feet in 2011. The growth will allow new categories, including sporting goods, a fly fishing shop, archery, lawn and garden and more complete from the existing sections. Brian Cravens is manager.

Originally Big R, the business began in 1997 and now has 10 stores in Idaho (also Ponderay north of Sandpoint), Washington and Montana. The headquarters is in Great Falls, Mont. Hours here are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sundays. Phone 666-0506. Check www.north40.com.

Becker's Tackle on Neider

While on outdoor interests, Becker's Tackle Shop will open soon at 182 Neider Ave. (Neider Retail Center, across from Costco).

Billed as a "one-stop bass shop," it will offer "trending baits paired with the tried and true staples for your tackle box," line-winding services, reel cleaning and proper techniques and tips.

Owners Blake and Melissa Becker bring a combination of bass fishing and marketing and sales experience. Hours will be 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays. Phone 667-BASS.

Just Roses Plus to move

With the parent building to eventually be replaced with a giant convenience store, Just Roses Plus will move April 1 from 1203 N. Fourth St. (at Harrison Avenue) to 503 N. Fourth St.

The full-service florist offers same-day delivery and pick up of a bouquet to surprise the recipient. In business for 20 years, owner Kelly Sanchez worked there for 16 years and bought the shop in 2012.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and Saturdays by appointment and for deliveries. Phone 667-7673. Check www.justrosespluscda.com.

Paint Buzz in Riverstone

Creativity augmented with wine and beer will be the theme of The Paint Buzz at 2145 N. Main St. in Riverstone.

"Have fun while learning to acrylic paint on canvas and take home your masterpiece!" said Beth Marceau, who co-owns the shop with Tracy Hofius. The place will include art-and-sip workshops, live music nights, date nights, girls' nights and an event center with a stage and P.A. system. A retail section will also be there.

The grand opening will be there on the weekend of April 3. Hours will be 5-10 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays and 1-10 p.m. Saturdays. Phone 659-7186. Check www.facebook.com/paintbuzz.

Now for the Tidbits

- Watch for news on Timber Gastropub in Post Falls, "sold" signs west of Riverstone, MOD Pizza in Winco-Crossroads and Pinkerton Retirement Services in Riverstone.

- A real headline: "War dims hope for peace."

- A colon (:) introduces what follows. If it's a sentence, follow the colon with a capital word. If it's simply a list, follow the colon with a lower-case word.

- A will is a dead giveaway.

- OK. We're done early. I suffered at a College Media Convention in New York this week.
