Basketball: Glacier's Hashley, Bennett named to all-state teams
The Daily Inter Lake | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 9 years, 10 months AGO
Glacier’s Jaxen Hashley and Hailee Bennett were named to the Class AA all-state basketball teams on Tuesday.
Hashley, a sophomore forward for the Wolfpack, earned his first all-state nod by averaging a team-high 10.8 points and 9.5 rebounds per game, one of just three players in the state to put up those numbers.
He was joined from the Western conference by Hellgate seniors Tres Tinkle and Rhett Baerlocher, Sentinel senior Zaccheus Darko-Kelly, Capital senior Keegan Syvrud and Helena junior Ragen Shein. State champion Billings Skyview had a pair of all-staters from the East, seniors Kendall Manuel and Nolan McHugh. Great Falls seniors Brendan Howard, Matt Wyman and Lukas Vining and Billings West seniors Jared Samuelson and Danny Betcher and Bozeman senior Adam Huse were also all-state.
This is the second time Bennett has been named to the all-state girls team. A junior point guard, she averaged 13.4 points and 3.8 assists per game in helping the Wolfpack to its best-ever finish at the state tournament. Glacier finished third, capturing the first basketball trophy in school history.
State champion Helena Capital had two all-staters in juniors Kenzie Johnston and Tjaden Pallister. Sentinel’s Shannon Worster and Lexi Steele and Big Sky senior Maddy Shaide also represent the West. Bozman’s Averie Collins and Emerald Toth, Billings Skyview’s Hailey Copinga, Great Falls’ Nora Klick, Billings West’s MorningRose Tobey and Great Falls C.M. Russell’s Taylor Edwards are the Eastern all-staters.
Glacier’s Sam McCamley and Flathead’s Matt Marshall were named honorable mention all-conference in the West for the boys. Glacier’s Katie Wiley and Flathead’s Tiana Johnson were named to the second-team all-conference for the girls. Glacier junior Taylor Salonen was honorable mention.
