The Hayden Lake Recreational Water and Sewer District on Tuesday reported a raw sewage spill of an estimated 900 to 2,700 gallons at a pump station being constructed near 5700 E. Hayden Lake Road.
The district was notified at 11 a.m. on Saturday of sewage discharging from a pipe at the station, a district press release states.
"The cause of the discharge was a partially open valve installed the day before (on Friday)," the press release states.
The release was immediately reported to the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality, according to the district. A 5-yard patch of contaminated soil was removed and the area was disinfected.
There are no known public health or environmental impacts that will require further action from the district.
