Arvagene Sparling

100th birthday

We are proud to celebrate the 100th birthday of Arvagene Sparling - born in Noble, Okla., on March 11, 1915. Arvagene moved to California in her early 20s and married David Sparling in Bakersfield, Calif. She raised four children: sons Darel and Ronnie and two daughters, Lois and Marsha. She and her family moved to Coeur d'Alene in 1999. Arvagene has 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She is strong and an example of life and vitality to this day!

Arvagene has a love for art and gardening. Even today her garden is always flourishing and there is plenty. She loves to share with families and friends around her. Arvagene attends Candlelight Christian Fellowship each Sunday and a women's Bible study on Wednesday nights.

We are so thankful for the long and wonderful life the Lord has provided her. We wish for her many years to come! Happy birthday Arvagene!

Births

Anna Rose Hohenstreet was born Nov. 28, 2014, at Holy Family Hospital in Spokane to Beth (Anderson) and Seth Hohenstreet of Post Falls. She weighed 6 pounds. Siblings are James, Stephen and Grace. Maternal grandparents are Norm and Bonnie Anderson of Post Falls. Paternal grandparents are Bill and Gail Hohenstreet of Post Falls. Great-grandparents are Bill and Jean Hohenstreet of Chattaroy, Wash., and Doris Vangstad of Osakis, Minn.

MILITARY

Army Pvt. Robert J. Thomas has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.

Thomas is the son of John P. Thomas of Naples and Deborah M. White of Spokane Valley. He is the brother of Sarah A. Smith of Rathdrum.

He is a 2013 graduate of Central Valley High School in Spokane Valley.
