Alicia Troye, 41, announced her candidacy for election to the Zone 3 seat on the Coeur d'Alene School District Board of Trustees.

Troye will face Terri Seymour, the incumbent; and another challenger, Tambra Pickford, in the May 19 election.

Troye, a Coeur d'Alene resident since 2001, has coached cross-country at Sorensen elementary and is an involved member of the PTO. She volunteers weekly for the CDA Backpack Program and is a member of the planning team for Idaho Youth Ranch's annual Wine, Women & Shoes fundraiser.

"Considering my recent time in the classroom, I am running for school board with the teachers in mind and students at heart," Troye stated in a press release. "I have experienced firsthand the day-to-day determination teaching requires, and to be able to sit on a board that supports success in both teachers and students is a win-win for me."

Troye lives in Coeur d'Alene Place with her husband, Jason; their two daughters, who attend Sorensen; and their dog, Bodie.

Troye was born in Michigan, where her dad was an FBI agent and her mom was a school teacher.
