SWIMMING
CAST at senior sectionals: Six members of the Coeur d'Alene Area Swim Team competed in the Western Region Senior Sectional Championships in Federal Way, Wash., recently. The meet featured over 700 swimmers of all ages from around the western United States who met the stringent qualifying time standards. The top 32 swimmers in each event were eligible to swim in finals.
Nicole Rozier, Maggie de Tar, Sarah Nicholls, and Micah Hudlet were the CAST girls at the meet, and the four combined to help CAST finish 13th out of the more than 40 teams attending. Rozier swam four personal best times, broke three team records, and finished as high as 7th in the 200 individual medley. She also placed 10th in the 200 backstroke, ninth in the 400 IM, and 10th in the 100 butterfly. de Tar also earned 4 best times, and placed 7th in the 1,650 freestyle. She broke four team records as well, and added finishes of 12th in the 200 freestyle, 17th in the 500 freestyle, 28th in the 400 IM, and 29th in the 100 freestyle.
Sarah Nicholls earned 5 best times and broke the Inland Empire record for the 13-14 girls 100 breaststroke by over a second. She finished ninth overall in that race, and added a 10th-place finish in the 200 breaststroke. Micah Hudlet had four personal bests and placed as high as 62nd overall in the 200 breaststroke. This was Micah's first time competing at the Senior Sectional Championships.

Kyle placed 21st in the 200 backstroke, 23rd in the 400 IM, and 23rd in the 200 IM. Chang swam three personal bests in his first competition at this level of meet.
