The early spring weather has anglers out on the water much sooner than most years, and fishing for a variety of species is very good already.

Anglers are finding the water level very low at Lake Roosevelt, which is typical of this time of year, and it hasn't slowed the fishing for big kokanee and rainbow trout.

Good catches of walleye are being made at Banks Lake, and Potholes Reservoir is also starting to produce walleye at a rate that usually doesn't occur until later in the spring. I saw a cooler full of nice kokanee that were caught at Palmer Lake when I was at the Big Horn Show in Spokane.

Kokanee action has been going since mid-winter on Lake Chelan and it will likely really get good as more and more fish move down to the lower basin of the big lake.

If you want to learn all there is to know about how to catch kokanee on Lake Chelan be sure and attend the free seminar at Town Ford on April 8.

Rick Graybill will provide a very detailed Power Point presentation on the best tackle, techniques and areas of the lake to fish for kokanee on Lake Chelan.

I had a great experience the other day. I had stopped by Hooked on Toys in Wenatchee and ran into someone that I knew from Lake Chelan.
