RATHDRUM — Jarred Hall drew a leadoff walk in the seventh inning and scored the go-ahead run on a double by Reilly Cherry as the Lake City Timberwolves rallied to beat the Lakeland Hawks 7-4 in a nonleague game on Thursday at Gorton Field.
“It was good for us to come back from down late in the game,” said Lake City coach Travis Georgius, whose T-Wolves scored three times in the sixth and three more in the seventh to erase a 4-1 deficit. “We gave away a lot of at-bats early in the game. Lakeland’s starting pitcher (Michael Bodak) had a great day and we couldn’t do much against him early on, and they played really well defensively as well.”
Jordan Ross drove in two runs for Lake City (3-3), which travels to Asotin (Wash.) on Monday for a doubleheader at noon.
Bodak, Brian Howell and Dalton Strong had RBIs for Lakeland (0-3), which travels to Lewiston for a doubleheader today at Church Field, starting at 4 p.m.
“I was very happy with the way we came out and played tonight,” Lakeland coach Jason Bradbury said. “We did a lot of good things, even though we lost. We have much to build on, but took a step in the right direction.”
