Gears, (Root) Beers, and Engineers
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 10 years, 7 months AGO
Bring your ideas to "Gears, (Root) Beers, and Engineers" and conference with fabricators and engineers to make a plan to build human-powered vehicles.
Meet-ups take place today from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and tomorrow from 1-3 p.m. at Gizmo-cda, 806 N. Fourth St.
Mentors will be available to help builders of all ages dream and design mutant machines for the July 12 Kinetic Festival at Riverstone. The festival will feature a parade of people-powered kinetic cycles with a people's choice award bestowed at the end of the day.
All ages are welcome at both events. Tonight's event "Gears, Beers and Engineers" will be more adult-oriented and Saturday afternoon's event with the "root" added will be geared for kids.
Attendees at the meet-ups will be guided through conceptualization of their human-powered vehicles, and they can sign up at the event for build time at Gizmo. Small Bites will be provided by Chef Michael Musser, and drinks by Gizmo.
To make these vehicles, Gizmo will have open shop times and directed build assistance available over the next two months. Schedules and prices can be found at www.gizmo-cda.org.
People can work alone or in groups to build their mutant cycles. If someone would like to work in a team but doesn't have people to work with, they can contact Gizmo and Gizmologists will help them find a group.
The Kinetic Festival is being presented by Bike CDA, Gizmo-cda and CDA Skate Park.
