The Lady Trojans played three matches against the Superior Bobcats on Tuesday. Earning victories for Troy were No. 2 singles player Molly Walters and the doubles team of Azure Stever and Taylor Brown. While Walter played a marathon match, Stever and Brown downed Superior’s doubles team in straight sets.

No. 1 singles- Alise Ruthford def. Kaylee Stecher, Troy, 6-1, 7-5

No. 2 singles- Molly Walters, Troy, def. Mackenzie Spence, 6 -7, (10-8), 6-4, 10-2

No. 1 doubles- Azure Stever/Taylor Brown, Troy, def. Lenaya Simpson & Sammi Francis, 6-1, 6-2

Little Guy wrestling set to take stage

Making it onto the podium at the high school state wrestling tournament didn’t start at the beginning of the season for this year’s top two state finishers from the Greenchain wrestling team, Garret Chapel and Zach Crace. Chapel won the 170-pound state title and Crace finished third at 152 pounds over the weekend of Feb. 13 and 14.

It appears the May 5 election for the Troy School Board of Trustees won’t be necessary. With only three candidates filing for three open seats by the March 28 deadline, those applicants will be elected by acclamation.
