Beverly June Isker, 94, passed peacefully from this life, Sunday morning, April 26, 2015, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

An Oklahoma native, Bev was born to Robert Lester and Agnes Faye (Lowder) Moffett on April 25, 1921, the oldest of five children. Following high school, she worked at Kress Variety Store in downtown Tulsa, Okla., while attending business college. Soon thereafter, Bev met and then married John Isker, and the two made their home in Albuquerque, N.M., for a brief time.

John taught Beverly how to use a rifle, and together they enjoyed the work entailed in hunting, fishing and growing their fruits and vegetables to maintain what is now termed an 'organic lifestyle.' Bev was once featured in the local newspaper with the grizzly she shot and killed as he approached their campsite!

Canning and freezing the bounty that sustained them through the winter months required diligence and untold patience in the gathering and storage of the food.

In 1965 the couple moved to Emmett, Idaho, and found the fertile valley offered rich soil for fruit trees and vegetable gardens, and the rivers were full of salmon and trout. Deer, elk, fish and fowl were accumulated for the winter months, and jellies canned from apricots and strawberries sweetened their bread on those cold, snowy December mornings.

Bev treasured time to knit, crochet, sew clothes and artfully apply paint to canvas. Using oils or water color, she expressed her love of the land and her appreciation for nature's beauty. Learning to play the violin was her greatest challenge, and she later confessed it was more fun to hear her dog 'Boots' howl than it was to actually practice. Never intimidated, Bev enrolled in computer classes at 85 years old to "keep up with technology" so she could master the Internet and email her family. And she did.

Following their move to Coeur d'Alene in 1985, Bev and John enjoyed round and square dancing. In an effort to stay active after John's passing, Bev took golf lessons and soon found she quite enjoyed the game, joining a women's golf league with her sister, Marilyn Billions.

Beverly will be remembered for her adventurous outlook, gifted independence and loving, gentle behavior. Hosting her family through hot summers, teaching her nieces to live off the land, and she and John giving their best tips on catching the biggest fish were joys she looked forward to every year. We thank her for those priceless memories we cherish today.

Mrs. Isker was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; brother Don Moffett of Tulsa, Okla., sister Marilyn Billions of Coeur d'Alene; infant brother Junior Moffett; and nephew Stephen Moffett, also of Tulsa.

Surviving Bev is a brother, Charles Moffett; nephew Larry Moffett and wife Paula of Tulsa; nieces Teresa Van Sky and husband Jim of Coeur d'Alene; Tanna Brown and husband Randy of Inola, Okla., Tracy McCorkle and husband Richard of Sand Springs, Okla., and Jill Moffett of Tulsa; as well as numerous great and twice-great nieces and nephews.

Her family is left to commit to memory a woman of great capacity, intelligence and love ... Our "Sweet Aunt Bev."

Services will be held at a later date.
