Farmers Market resumes

The 30th season of the Kootenai County Farmers Market begins its season Saturday at the southeast corner of Highway 95 and Prairie Avenue.

With more vendors and products, items include plants, produce, meats, cheeses, breads, pastries, flowers, coffee, local wine, crafts and live music from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The downtown Wednesday Market begins 4-7 p.m. May 13 on Fifth Street at Sherman Avenue. Tomato Lady farm opens

With everything naturally grown on the farm, the Idaho Tomato Lady opens her nursery today at 9782 N. Ramsey in Hayden.

Open 1-6 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, items include tomato and veggie starts, nasturtiums, pansies, hanging baskets and annuals to make strawberry plants, grapes, blueberries, raspberries and herbs.

CrossFit opens in Hayden

Group and individual coaching, classes and workouts using the CrossFit methodology are offered at CrossFit Hayden, which opens Monday at 190 W. Hayden Ave. (east building in the Super 1 area).

Workouts comprise constantly varied functional movements such as pushing, pulling, squatting, lifting and running at high intensity.

Classes include swimming, sculling, martial arts, running, speed drills, hand-to-hand combat, weightlifting and defensive handgun.

Owners-coaches Nick and Kimberly Cools have 10 years experience and certifications. Lexie Volz also is multiple certified and is a Wilderness First Responder. Dog d'Alene fun Saturday

"All Things Dog" will be offered at Dog d'Alene 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Sherman Avenue and Sixth Street downtown. Included will be vendors, skill demonstrations, games and contests such as 'Prettiest' and 'Most Handsome.'

It's free to attend and a small fee to enter animal competitions donated to area animal shelters. Sponsors are the Coeur d'Alene Downtown Association and Petco.
