Voters approve two school levies

Voters on Tuesday approved general fund operation and maintenance levy requests for Somers-Lakeside and Whitefish school districts.
The Somers-Lakeside School District request for $185,000 per year was approved 661 to 444.
“Obviously I’m very happy and now we have a lot of work to do,” Somers-Lakeside Superintendent Paul Jenkins said Tuesday night.
Whitefish’s elementary district levy of $36,000 was approved 980 to 536.
Whitefish voters also re-elected chairwoman Pat Jarvi to a three-year term on the school board representing the elementary district. Marguerite Kaminski also was elected to the Whitefish board.
Jarvi received 1,009 votes, Kaminski 851 and Bob Auerbach 653.
In a mail-ballot election, Bigfork School District voters elected Christina Relyea with 528 votes to a three-year term representing the elementary district. Incumbent Maureen Averill received 491 votes.
In the Flathead Valley Community College trustee election, Callie Langohr of Kalispell was elected to a three-year term for the Flathead/Glacier High School District.
Langohr received 2,698 votes while Terry Kramer received 1,908 votes.
