Jordt and Martel finish close second at Loyola Invite

Bigfork’s Isaac Martel and Adam Jordt finished second in doubles play at the Loyola Invitational tennis tournament on Saturday.

Martel and Jordt lost in the final, 6-4, 6-2.

The Bigfork duo won their semifinal outing 4-6, 6-3, 12-10 and rolled through the quarterfinals 6-2, 6-1. 

Bigfork’s other doubles team of George Gibson and Ben Russel made it to the quarter finals.

In singles, Kyle Thomson won his first round and quarterfinal matchups, but lost in the semis to Loyola’s Kalen Christiaens, who went on to win No. 1-2 singles.

Results were not available for the Valkyries.

The Vals host divsionals on Friday and Saturday, while the Vikes will travel to St. Ignatius for Best of the West. Class B boys don’t have a divisional tournament. The state tourney is May 14-16 in Great Falls.
