SAGLE - Four motorists were injured Tuesday in a four-vehicle pileup on U.S. Highway 95 in Sagle.
Idaho State Police said John Courtney was stopped on the highway and waiting for traffic to clear so he could turn left. Gloria Hanson and Terence Christianson were behind Courtney and were in the process of slowing their vehicles.
State police said Gary Ralph closed on the clotted traffic and crashed his Ford pickup truck into the back of Christianson's Chevrolet Silverado, which collided with Hanson's Subaru Outback. The Subaru then crashed into Courtney's GMC pickup, state police said.
The motorists' direction of travel was not specified in an ISP news release.
Ralph, a 49-year-old Sagle resident, was not wearing a seat belt and was taken to Bonner General Health for treatment. Also taken to BGH were Courtney, 35, of Post Falls; Hanson, 55, of Sandpoint; and Christianson, 60, of Coeur d'Alene.
Courtney, Hanson and Christianson were wearing seat belts at the time of the 3:43 p.m. collisions. The highway was blocked for approximately two hours.
The crashes occurred halfway between the New Song Bible Church and the Bottle Bay Road turnoff.
