Hot Springs and Arlee run in Missoula

MISSOULA – The Hot Springs and Noxon track and field teams spent the weekend in Missoula competing in the Kim Haines Invitational at Missoula County Stadium.
The meet, hosted by Seeley-Swan High School featured stand out performances from both the Savage Heat and Red Devil squads.
The Hot Springs Savage Heat tied for fifth with Loyola Sacred Heart after scoring 33 points in the meet.
Noxon took seventh in the meet with a team score of 29 points.
Hot Springs Head Coach Vicky Nytes noted there were six Class B schools at the Kim Haines Invite.
“It pushes are athletes to compete when they face different competition,” Nytes said.
The Savage Heat got strong performances from their lineup during last weekend’s meet.
Anthony Byrns took first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.14 and took second in the 100-meter dash, crossing the finish line with a 11.37.
Byrns also placed fourth in the 400-meter event with a time of 53.08.
Trevor Paro also earned a first place finish for Hot Springs in the triple jump event with a jump of 43-2.
Tanner Hoff took sixth in the javelin event with a throw of 140-4 for the Savage Heat.
Bradley Wilson led the charge for the Red Devils earning first place honors in the 1,600-meter event with a 4:39.60.
Wilson also took second in the 300-meter hurdles with a 42.32 and placed sixth in the 400-meter event with a 53.25.
Austin Johnson of Noxon took third in the 800-meter event with a time of 2:11.99 and finished fourth in the 3,200-meter event with an 11:14.15.
Both Noxon and Hot Springs will head to the district meet in Polson on Thursday, May 7 for their next competition.
