COEUR d'ALENE - Dan Malcolm is running for a second term as a Lakes Highway commissioner.

Malcolm is currently one of three Lakes Highway District Commissioners, serving with Monte Montgomery and Rod Twete.

Malcolm was appointed to his current position after the passing of former Commissioner Marv Lekstrum in 2012.

"As commissioners of Lakes Highway District we are responsible for making policy decisions to include oversight of district operations and ensuring we are good stewards of the taxpayers' money," Malcolm wrote in a press release. "In doing so it is my first priority to ensure I understand what the people want by listening to what people have to say and then taking necessary action."

Malcolm said he believes in being involved in the community. He is a life member of the Coeur d'Alene Chamber of Commerce Commodores and a life member of the North Idaho Building Contractors Association.

"Additionally, I'm a member of the Vandals and NIC Booster Clubs, Cd'A Elks, Good Sams RV Club, North Idaho Officials Association Hall of Fame, Member of Avondale Golf Club and Former Board Member of Coeur d'Alene Public Golf Course," he said in the release.

Malcolm is a lifelong resident of North Idaho, who currently lives in Hayden. He has been married to his wife, Carol, for 52 years. He has been endorsed by Balance North Idaho and the North Idaho Building Contractors Association.

Malcolm has more than 40 years of business experience involving management of construction, bidding of public works projects, managing employees and business financing.

"Again, I will listen and actively pursue any concerns that are brought to my attention," he wrote. "Additionally, if there are concerns related to transparency, please contact me to address these issues, as I to feel it is necessary the public fully understands the ongoing issues within Lakes Highway District."

Contact Malcolm at (208) 661-4848 or by email at dncmalcolm@hotmail.com.
