COEUR d'ALENE — Memorial services for Coeur d’Alene police Sgt. Greg Moore will begin Saturday at 10 a.m. at Lake City High School, 6101 N. Ramsey Road.
The services are open to the public and the doors open at 9 a.m.
North Idaho College, 1000 W. Garden Ave., will open its Student Union Building for an overflow area in which citizens can watch live streaming of the event. Lake City Community Church, 6000 N. Ramsey Road, has also made arrangements as an overflow area for citizens to watch the services.
Public parking for the event will be at the United Methodist Church on Hanley Avenue. Signs will direct the public to the parking area.
Citizens can expect long traffic delays on Ramsey Road and Hanley Ave in the early morning hours until the early afternoon.
After the services conclude, a lengthy procession of law enforcement vehicles will accompany Moore's body to his final resting place at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d'Alene.
The route will be Ramsey Road south to the Four Corners area of downtown (Government Way, Sherman Avenue, Northwest Boulevard and Mullan Avenue), north up Government Way to Summit Avenue.
Public viewing is available the entire length of the procession route.
Parking in the southbound lane of Government Way from Summit Avenue to Garden Avenue will not be allowed after 12 a.m. Saturday and will be closed off with signage.
The internment services are private at the gravesite. They are open to all emergency first responders, all former and retired local law enforcement, City of Coeur d Alene staff and visiting public safety personnel.
The public and the media are asked to respect the wishes of the family and allow them this time alone with their loved ones.
The speakers scheduled for the memorial service are: Jennifer Brumley, Dan Eckles, Shawn Shugars, Det. Johann Schmitz and Police Chief Lee White.
Law enforcement representatives and emergency first responders from around the nation will be present at the memorial.
"We would like to express our gratitude to these fine individuals for recognizing and honoring the sacrifice made by Sgt. Moore and his family," a Coeur d'Alene Police press release states.
CDA-TV Channel 19 and KHQ Channel 6 in Spokane will air the funeral services starting at 10 a.m. at Lake City High School, where Moore formerly served as a school resource officer.
KHQ assistant news director Jeff Hite said the NBC affiliate will air the service live from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Channel 6 and then continue coverage on its sister station, SWX. The entire service will be streamed on KHQ.com.
KREM and KXLY will do a live stream with other broadcast information during the services.
Moore was shot and killed in the line of duty on Tuesday. He was on a routine neighborhood patrol on Wilbur Avenue on the north side of Coeur d'Alene and died at Kootenai Health later that day.
The suspect, Jonathan D. Renfro, 26, Rathdrum, is being held at the Kootenai County Jail. He was arrested in Post Falls a few hours after the alleged shooting and is accused of fleeing in Moore's patrol car after the incident.
Moore was a well-liked, 16-year veteran of Coeur d'Alene Police. He received multiple awards and certifications during his service. Prior to coming to Coeur d'Alene, he was a deputy sheriff for Asotin County, Wash.
Moore was married to Lindy, a third-grade teacher at Ramsey Magnet School of Science in Coeur d'Alene. The two have a 1-year-old daughter named Gemma and Greg has a son named Dylon, a sixth-grader at Coeur d'Alene Charter Academy.
