Lake City grad to
face Shadow on Saturday
SPOKANE - The Spokane Shadow return to Evergreen Premier League play on Saturday at Spokane Falls Community College to face the Vancouver Victory starting at 7 p.m.
James Williamson, a 2009 Lake City High graduate who played at Corban University in Salem, Ore., was selected as a league Player of the Week on April 27 for Vancouver (2-0-0).
Adam Talley was named Player of the Week on May 5 for Spokane (1-0-1).
Registration underway for
Scott Hague tournament
Signups are now being accepted for the North Idaho College Scott Hague Memorial Cardinal Classic on Friday, June 5 at Avondale Golf and Tennis Club in Hayden Lake.
Cost is $100 for individuals and $375 for four-person teams, which includes cart rental and dinner provided by Outback Steakhouse. Registration is due before Friday, May 29.
The event is being held in honor of NIC alumnus and community supporter Scott Hague, who died of cancer in March 2005.
There is a 32-team limit.

Former Shock receiver Vijil
announces retirement
SPOKANE - Former Spokane Shock receiver Raul Vijil announced his retirement from the Arena Football League, signing official documents prior to Saturday's game against San Jose at the Spokane Arena.
Prior to the 4 p.m. kickoff, the Shock will hold a special ceremony to recognize the "9th Man" and then at halftime will hold a jersey retirement ceremony for Vijil.
A Pasco native, Vijil played at Eastern Washington, where he recorded 129 receptions for 1,966 yards and 10 touchdowns. He went on to play six total seasons as a member of the Shock during the team's seasons in the af2 (2006-09) and the Shock's first two seasons as a member of the AFL (2010-11).
