STATE TENNIS: Cates, Weadick remain in 5A

CC Cates and Zach Weadick advanced in the consolation bracket of the state 5A tennis tournament with a 9-7 win against Highland High on Friday in Boise.
All other local qualifiers in 5A failed to advance to the second day.
Lakeland's Collin Burkhalter was also eliminated in the state 4A boys singles tournament.
In the 3A tournament, Coeur d'Alene Charter's Jake Beattie and Zach Waite advanced in the consolation round, beat Jake Alderink and Jackson Ricks, also of Coeur d'Alene Charter 8-6.
