Jazz concerts

Columbia Falls High School band and instrument instructor Karen Ulmer will lead Columbia Falls graduates from years past in a concert titled “Night of Legends” in the high school’s Little Theater on Thursday, May 28, at 7 p.m. The high school’s Jazz Factory and Columbians bands will perform at the bandshell in Marantette Park, weather permitting, or at the Little Theater on Friday, May 29, at 7 p.m.

Zinke meet and greet

Rep. Ryan Zinke will hold a meet and greet at Freedom Bank in Columbia Falls on Saturday, June 6, from 5:45 to 7:30 p.m. Topics could include cleanup at the Columbia Falls Aluminum Co. site and economic development.

Roller derby

Flathead roller derby team the Big Mountain Misfits will play a rematch rematch against Butte’s Copper City Queens at the Flathead County Fairgrounds on Saturday, May 30, with doors opening at 6 p.m. and the bout starting at 7 p.m. Last time they met, the Misfits beat the Queens by 315-100. Proceeds from 50.50 raffle tickets will benefit Special Olympics.

Summer camps

The Farming For The Future Academy located at the Montana Veterans Home in Columbia Falls will offer free summer camps for kids with or without disabilities. Camps include Shave a Sheep Camp on  June 22-26, Rabbit Wagons on July 6-10, Dairy Days on July 20-24 and Build a Birdhouse on Aug. 3-7. Free meals

The Columbia Falls Community Kitchen will offer free meals in the basement of St. Richard’s Catholic Church in Columbia Falls from May 28 to 31 at 6 p.m.

High school physicals

Columbia Falls High School students must have a physical to participate in sports during the 2015-2016 school years. Physicals will take place at the gym on Tuesday, June 2, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Cost is $20. Optional impact testing will be available at 7 p.m. for an additional $10. Checks should be made out to The Summit. Parents are encouraged to come with athletes to fill out the necessary medical paperwork.

Nursing graduates

Three women from Columbia Falls recently graduated with the Flathead Valley Community College Practical Nursing Class of 2015 — Jennifer Anderson, Kristin Dowd and Amy Kienas. FVCC honored its eighth class of 20 practical nursing graduates during a traditional pinning ceremony at the college on May 15.

After hours

The Columbia Falls Area Chamber of Commerce’s after-hours social event will take place at Freedom Bank on Wednesday, May 20, from 3 to 7 p.m. to celebrate the bank’s 10th birthday.

New farmers market

The Columbia Falls Community Market will kick off on U.S. 2 next to O’Brien’s Liquor & Wine on May 21. The market will be held on Thursdays through Sept. 24 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. featuring locally grown produce and plants from more than seven farmers, handmade local crafts, artists, food caterers and local microbrewed beers. Local musicians will perform on stage in The Coop behind the store. The market is an official 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and all sponsorships are tax deductible.
