NIC's Taylor leads after first day of NWAC golf

TACOMA, Wash. - Hugh Taylor of North Idaho College shot a 4-under-par 66 to grab the first-day lead at the Northwest Athletic Conference men's golf tournament Sunday at Oakbrook Golf Course.

Taylor leads by four shots.

NIC's men are tied for sixth; Walla Walla leads Community Colleges of Spokane by two strokes.

Bellevue leads the women's tournament by 16 strokes over North Idaho College. NIC teams can only compete for individual titles in their first season in the NWAC. Mackenzie Phillips and Jenna Kaik of NIC are tied for eighth after shooting 85.

Both tourneys conclude today.
