Gate tickets at Whitefish High School sporting events are going up next year.

Adult prices will increase by $1 to $6. Student tickets will remain $4.

Vice Principal Jackie Fuller said the change will keep Whitefish consistent with all of the other schools in Class A.

“This will also help with our expenses increasing for officials and gate workers,” she said. “It will also help with travel expenses as we travel farther.”

The school board May 13 approved the change.

Class A schools are being realigned after Libby and Anaconda drop to Class B next year. The Northwestern and Southwestern conferences were combined to include Whitefish, Frenchtown, Polson, Columbia Falls, Dillon, Butte Central, Corvallis, Hamilton and Stevensville.

The change means more travel for all schools.

Doubleheaders at Whitefish will also increase to $7 for adults and $5 for students. In the past, ticket prices remained the same even if there were to basketball or two soccer games.

Fuller said gate prices haven’t increased in the last four years. Most students purchase an activity ticket, which gives them access to the games, she noted.
