Free lunch for veterans on Monday

The seventh annual Vernon Baker Memorial Day Free Lunch for Veterans will take place Monday at six local restaurants.

Active duty and prior military service members, regardless of protected veteran status, are eligible to eat free with proof of military service at the following restaurants and times:

* Capone's locations in Coeur d'Alene, Hayden and Post Falls - 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

* Michael D's Eatery - 8 a.m. to noon

* Mid-City Pub - 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

* At Taco Time on Fourth Street, active duty and prior military service members with proof of service will receive one free menu item all day.

Tax-deductible donations to VFW Post 889 are still being collected to help defray the cost of this year's lunch. Mail to: Eric Soles, PO Box 471, Bayview, ID 83803.
