Greg and Lindy Moore

I am blessed and humbled to live in this incredible, loving community. Greg's unexpected death is a tragedy I never imagined.

Thank you to everyone who has courageously reached out, even if you were unsure of how to approach me or what to say during this time of grief. Your presence has strengthened me. I have received countless messages and letters from the community and from around the nation. I have read them all. Every kind word, honoring Greg and his service, has made this impossible situation bearable for my family. I send out my heartfelt thanks to each person who has paid tribute to Greg and mourned alongside us.

I am eternally grateful to the dedicated members of the Coeur d'Alene Police Department and Chief White, who have stood by me, protecting and serving as always. I especially want to thank Greg's parents, Fred and Sherri Moore, Detective Johann Schmitz, Jen Brumley and her family, Jacquie Mercer, Erica Duncan, Tonya Taft, my immediate and extended family, local and faraway friends, Pastor Rodney Wright, and all law enforcement spouses and families for their continual comfort and support.

I was overwhelmed by the hundreds of officers who came from across the country to take part in Greg's memorial. Thank you for paying your respects to Greg and thank you for your service. Thank you to all who attended or watched the ceremony, and to those who lined the streets in support during Greg's final journey to Forest Cemetery. My heart will forever hold the memory of the day that this community stood still for Greg.

My thanks goes out to the City of Coeur d'Alene, the firefighters and first responders, doctors, nurses, and staff at Kootenai Health, English Funeral Home, the staff and families of Ramsey Magnet School of Science, Lake City High School, Charter Academy, the entire Coeur d'Alene School District, and the Coeur d'Alene Resort. I also want to thank the media for allowing us to grieve privately and for respectfully sharing Greg's story.

Jen and I would like to convey a special thanks to Jeff Lake, Dylon's soccer coach, and Dr. Nancy Larsen, one of his teachers, both of whom cared for Dylon during this difficult time. We want to thank the tremendously generous students and staff of Lakeland School District, the Sting Soccer Club, the wonderful soccer parents and players, Dylon's friends, and Jen's co-workers for their unwavering show of love for her and Dylon.

I am grateful for the financial support from the Kootenai County Police and Fire Memorial Foundation, the Idaho Peace Officers Memorial Fund, the Rotary Club of Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls Community Volunteers, and contributors of the Umpqua Bank fund and the GoFund Me account. I also want to thank the many individuals, businesses, and organizations who have donated time, products, and services to help my family. The natural beauty of this community is only surpassed by the hearts of the people who live here. While nothing will replace Greg, your amazing, generous donations will allow the kids and me to maintain relative normalcy while we learn to live without him.

Greg loved his family. His ultimate wish would be for his family to be loved and protected. Thank you for allowing him to realize this dream, even after his passing.

As I look towards the future, I find solace in knowing that Greg will live on in the collective memory of family, friends, and this community. Dylon and Gemma will always know their dad. He lives in the hearts and minds of everyone whose life he touched.

With love and gratitude,

Lindy Moore
