COEUR d'ALENE - Next month, the city of Coeur d'Alene will ask for the public's help in its efforts to revitalize the East Sherman area.

The area is a priority for city officials this year, and at two public workshops in June, business and property owners, as well as residents, will be asked to form a collective vision for the city's eastern gateway. Community Planner Hilary Anderson told The Press Tuesday that city officials believe the timing is right to move forward with plans for the corridor and she hopes the public will take advantage of the workshops.

"We want to know what they envision for the area," Anderson said. "Everyone has great ideas, the more we get the better - if you don't show up your idea isn't going to rise to the top because we won't hear it."

The first public workshop will be held in the Community Room of the Coeur d'Alene Public Library from 5 to 7 p.m. on June 3. A second workshop will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on June 18 at the Harding Family Center, located at 411 N. 15th St. in Coeur d'Alene.

Anderson said the workshops will feature opening remarks from city staff and CDA 2030 representatives who will outline the city's primary goals for the area. After the remarks, attendees will split into groups and go to various stations where they will participate in exercises and have the opportunity to provide their input.
