Mary Frances Bowen Hubbard passed away May 14, 2015, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, surrounded by family. She was born in Tomnolen, Miss., on Oct. 26, 1927, to parents Solomon and Fannie Mae Collum.
Mary Frances met her first husband, Earl "Pete" Bowen, in Orange, Texas, after he returned from the Invasion of Normandy of World War II. They were married in 1946. Shortly after their wedding they moved to Coeur d'Alene where they raised four children. Pete passed away in 1984.
Mary Frances had a second chance at life and happiness when she met Reese Hubbard while attending dances at the senior center. They were married in 1995 and cherished nearly 20 years together before Reese passed away in 2014.
Mary Frances worked at the Kootenai County Courthouse for many years. She particularly enjoyed helping people with voter registration. She loved spending time with family and friends, going for car rides, dancing, reading and listening to music.
She was preceded in death by her son, Jeff, in 1976; her granddaughter Ginger, in 1992; her first husband, Pete Bowen, in 1984; and second husband, Reese Hubbard, in 2014. She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Ed) Lynn of Royal City, Wash., son Bill (Sharon) Bowen of Mesa, Ariz., son Robert (Kathy) Bowen of Post Falls, Idaho; stepdaughter Donna (Carl) Cochrane of Rose Lake, Idaho; and numerous grandchildren, step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other relatives.
The family wishes to thank the compassionate staff at Life Care Center in Coeur d'Alene for their wonderful support. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Mary Frances' name to a favorite charity.
Viewing will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, May 22, with the funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel. The graveside service will be at 2 p.m. at Coeur d'Alene Memorial Gardens.
