COEUR d'ALENE - Apparently, "Welcome to Idaho" signs can still make great bachelor pad decor. Particularly in Washington.

A Spokane man told authorities he witnessed two male teenagers taking just such a sign around 5 a.m. on May 7, according to a Kootenai County Sheriff's Office report.

The theft occurred on the 7200 block of West Seltice Way at the Idaho-Washington state line.

The witness believed that a green chain saw he saw one of the youths holding was used to cut the sign free from a wooden 4x4 post, the report said.

A sheriff's deputy searched the area for the teens, but was not able to locate them. Surveillance cameras used by businesses at the scene weren't pointed in the direction of the sign.

The Spokane County Sheriff's Office was contacted and asked to continue the search in its jurisdiction.

"The males most likely had returned to Washington based on their direction of travel from the scene," the report said. Spokane authorities also came up empty in their search.

The Idaho Transportation Department was notified of the damaged post and stolen sign.
