MISSOULA, Mont. - Stephen Vaudreuil provided the spark in the first game, Jarred Hall did the same in the second, and the Coeur d'Alene Lumbermen won twice on Sunday at Osprey Field at the Dale Dahlgren Memorial Day Tournament.

Vaudreuil's three-run triple in the fifth inning of the first game put the Lumbermen ahead to stay in an 18-9 victory over the Glacier Twins of Whitefish, Mont.

Hall had three hits and drove in five runs as Coeur d'Alene beat the Missoula Mavericks 9-5.

Vaudreuil's triple highlighted an eight-run fifth inning, and put Coeur d'Alene (3-0) ahead 11-9. Glacier committed a throwing error trying to nab him at third, and he scored.

"He's been a sparkplug a the top of the lineup for us the first three games; he's really embraced that spot," Coeur d'Alene coach Zach Clanton said of Vaudreuil, who hit near the bottom of the lineup at Lake City High.

Gibson Green and Tanner Criswell each drove in four runs for the Lums vs. Glacier.

Hall hit a two-run double in the fifth inning for Coeur d'Alene against Missoula, but Clanton said his biggest hit was an RBI single in the sixth that increased the Lums' lead from three to four.

"I just love the way he plays the game; he has a very savvy approach to the game," Clanton said.

Coeur d'Alene wraps up round-robin play vs. the Kalispell Lakers at 9 a.m. PDT. No matter the result, both teams will likely meet again in the championship game at 4:30 p.m. Both games today are scheduled for Mavericks Field.

POST FALLS — Dalton Lozier allowed one earned run on four hits with four strikeouts in five-plus innings, but the Cardinals finished 0-4 at the season-opening Eastside Memorial Classic at Post Falls High.

Matt Lebsock went 2 for 3 and scored two runs for Prairie.

“Our biggest problems on the night were both mental and physical errors,” Prairie coach Brian Fowler said. “We had a few missed signs which prevented us from scoring more runs, and our five errors definitely helped them out. The bright side is we are a young team who has only been together for a very short time, and as the season progresses we’ll clean those mistakes up and stop beating ourselves.”

Prairie plays at Coeur d’Alene on Wednesday in a 4 p.m. doubleheader at Thorco Field.
