Horsemen and Bluehawks battle at Legends Stadium

KALISPELL – The boys of Sanders County’s Class B schools were also active during last week’s State Championship Meet in Kalispell.

The Thompson Falls Bluehawks compiled 25 team points and placed eighth in the state competition following two days of competition at Legends Stadium.

The Horsemen ended the two-day state meet with seven team points, tying Cut Bank for 18th.

On day one Jake Gascon, Joe Lundberg and MacKenzie Holt led the Bluehawks.

Gascon took second in the pole vault competition with a 13-0.

Lundberg also had a strong showing in the pole vault taking fourth in the event with a 12-0.

In the discuss competition, Holt placed fourth with at throw of 145-10.

Russell Kujala and Bransen Krebs were active for the Plains Horsemen on day one of state competition.

Kujala took fourth in the 800-meter event, ending the race with a 1:59.04.

Krebs placed sixth in the javelin event with a throw of 162-5 for the Horsemen.

On day two the Bluehawks increased their point total thanks to Josh Wulfekuhle who placed sixth in the 300-meter hurdles, crossing the finish line with a time of 42.14.

The Bluehawks also enjoyed success in the relay events with the boy’s relay teams placing in both the 400-meter and 1,600-meter relays.

Thompson Falls crossed the finish line third in the 400-meter relays with a time of 44.46 and placed fifth in the 1,600-meter relays with a 3:33.01.

For Plains Kujala placed for the second consecutive day taking fifth in the 1,600-meter event, clocking in at 4:38.40.
