THOMPSON FALLS – Residents of Sanders County will have a chance to recycle their used electronics later in the week.

The county will host the recycling event for the second year in a row at the Thompson Falls Transfer Site on Airport Road.

The county wide e-waste event will take place over the course of two days, beginning on Friday, May 29 and concluding on Saturday, May 30.

The recycling will run from 1-6 p.m. on Friday and be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday.

This week’s e-waste event is free to the public but Kathy Conlin noted due to funding, future e-waste events may not be offered free of charge.

Sanders County is partnering with the Montana Department of Environmental Quality and Collective Recyclers of Laurel for the weekend recycling drive.

The event will feature 22 large receptacles to handle the e-waste recycled by the community over the two days of the second annual event.

According to Conlin, the event will accept a number of used electronics including televisions, stereos, telephones, computers, cameras and toasters.

Conlin noted textiles would not be accepted at this year’s event.

She added the county has worked to get area schools involved in this year’s recycling event, challenging students to assist in the recycling of used electronics.

“I have challenged all the schools to see who can bring in the most items,” Conlin said.

Conlin noted MDEQ has a certificate, which will go to the school, which recycles the most electronic items in the county.

She urges interested individuals to check out the website of Collective Recyclers to learn more about the organization whose motto is reduce > reuse > recycle. rethink.

The organization’s website is www.collectiverecyclers.com

Collective Recyclers will be sending a semi-truck to pick up the collected electronic waste following the conclusion of the two-day event.

For more information on this weekend’s event please call Conlin at 827-6942.
