Dave Graybill: Fishin' Magician

We just finished with a big weekend, with the Memorial Day Holiday, and now we are coming upon another weekend that celebrates fishing.
It is the annual Free Fishing Weekend that is recognized nationally and here in Washington as a weekend that you can fish without a license.
Not only that, you don't need a Discovery Pass, two pole endorsement, where allowed, or a Salmon and Steelhead Endorsement to fish on Saturday, June 6 and Sunday, June 7.
This is a great opportunity to try fishing in our region. All you need is a rod, reel and bait. Most of the lakes in our region that opened on the last weekend in April are producing good catches of rainbow trout, and many of our lakes are open year-round.
If you are new to the sport, a good way to check our the lakes in your area is to log onto the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife's web site and click on the Fish Washington logo on the Home Page.
You can search by county where you want to try fishing and find a list of lakes and what species of fish are in them. Some resorts in the area, like Mar Don on Potholes Reservoir, is offering specials that weekend, too.

I had a great experience the other day. I had stopped by Hooked on Toys in Wenatchee and ran into someone that I knew from Lake Chelan.
