ANNIVERSARY
Don and Lil Washburn
70th Anniversary
Don and Lil Washburn will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on May 31, 2015.
They have been blessed with five children, and 46 grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Lil was born and raised in Minnesota and Don in Wisconsin. They met in Chicago, Ill., in 1943 and married in 1945. Don was a pastor in Wisconsin, South Dakota, Minnesota, Washington and Idaho.
They first moved to Idaho in 1955 to Coeur d'Alene, which they call their hometown.
They both have been active in Christian leadership, and have been leaders of the Gospel Jubilee every other Saturday night for 17 years, now held at the Lake City Community Church multi-purpose room.
Many friends gather at their home on Sunday evening for fellowship.
They are very active yet, doing something for their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Both of them say to God be the Glory and Praise for so many happy years together.
Don and Lil's family are planning an open house reception to celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary. It will be held between 2 and 4 p.m. today, May 31, 2015, at the Coeur d'Alene Community Church. A lunch will be served. All are welcome to come and greet Don and Lil.
ENGAGEMENTS
Richey-Patton
Kathleen Roma and Scott Richey of Boise are delighted to announce the engagement of their daughter, Adrian Roma Richey to Montana Todd Patton. Montana is the son of Mark and Barb Patton of Coeur d'Alene.
Montana graduated from The College of Idaho in 2013 and Lake City High School in 2009. He is working in Boise at the Emergency Responders Medical Center as a medical assistant/scribe, and is planning to attend medical school. Adrian graduated from The College of Idaho in 2015 and Mountain View High School in 2011. She is working as a scribe at St. Luke's Hospital and is planning to attend medical school.
The couple is planning a June 2016 wedding at the beautiful Basel Cellars Winery in Walla Walla, Wash.
Dotson-Storrs
Mark and Joany Dotson of Coeur d'Alene announce the engagement of their daughter, Annamieke Dotson, to Tristan Storrs, son of Teck Gotreau of Rathdrum and Steve Storrs of Pomeroy, Wash.
WEDDING
House-King
Holly House of Woodinville, Wash., and Gary King of Olympia, Wash., were married on May 23, 2015, on Steamboat Island. Holly is the stepdaughter of Pat House of Hayden Lake and the daughter of the late Gerry House. Gary is the son of the late Erma Jean and Theodore King of Jackson, Mich.
Holly is a graduate of Coeur d'Alene High School and The Evergreen College and is employed as the office director at DeLille Cellars in Woodinville. Gary is a graduate of Michigan State University and retired from his career as an educator and negotiator for the Washington Education Association (WEA). They will make their home on Steamboat Island in Olympia.
Jasper Leo Morgan was born at 2:56 p.m. May 11, 2015, to Ariel Corder and Jesse Morgan of Smelterville. He weighed 7 pounds and was 20 inches long. Brother is Jackson Corder. Maternal grandparents are Robert and Lynda Burden, and Jim and Linda Wines. Paternal grandparents are Tim and Stella Morgan.
MILESTONE BIRTHDAY
Marina Plastino
90th Birthday
Marina Plastino, affectionately known as Yiayia, will celebrate her 90th birthday on June 1, 2015. Born at Beauty Bay on Lake Coeur d'Alene in 1925, she was raised in Rathdrum and attended the University of Idaho. Yiayia attributes her longevity to working hard, laughing often with good friends and sipping an occasional martini or ouzo.
MILITARY
Steven Hallgren, of Rathdrum, successfully completed four years of challenging academic, physical and professional military training, and graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy on May 22, 2015, with a Bachelor of Science degree in physics, a minor in Chinese and a commission as a U.S. Navy Ensign. He is a graduate of Coeur d'Alene Charter Academy.
At the Naval Academy, Hallgren was a member of the powered flight team. He will now attend the University of Oxford in the United Kingdom to obtain master's degrees in radiation biology and history of science, medicine and technology.
