Multiple 911 calls were made to Lincoln County dispatch just after 6 p.m. Tuesday evening, reporting a head-on collision between a car and a truck near Libby.

Lanes in both directions were temporarily blocked as fire, ambulance, law enforcement and extrication crews were called to the scene. Callers reported one of the vehicles was on fire, but responders reported it was steam coming from the engine compartment of the small car, not flames and smoke.

Responders from Libby Volunteer Ambulance worked on one patient at the scene before transporting her to Cabinet Peaks Medical Center, where she was treated and released.

Fire, ambulance and law enforcement responders were clear of the scene after approximately one hour of work.

Details regarding the cause of the accident are remain sketchy, but the accident is under investigation by the Montana Highway Patrol.
