SANDPOINT — A homeowner is saddled with a $16,000 bill for installation of a sidewalk along Ella Street after the council denied his request for a deferral at Wednesday’s council meeting.
Homeowner Kurt Forget said he got a letter from the city in early September stating city officials were moving forward with the sidewalk installation and would put a lein on their home with a 25-percent penalty, if the homeowners did not pay for the $16,000 project. The item was tabled at the Oct. 7 board meeting so Forget could meet with members of Sandpoint’s Tree Committee.
“This would obviously put a severe financial burden on a household,” Forget said.
