Speech and debate team takes first place at Ronan

Columbia Falls speech and debate team took first place Saturday at the 10-team Ronan Invitational Tournament, with 177 points.

The team had two first place finishes in speech, Joey Chester in Memorized Public Address and Emily Getts in Expository, and first place in all three debate events, Annabel Conger and Colin Norick in Policy Debate, Gabby Merrell in Lincoln Douglas Debate, and Cassidy Norick and Kelsey Wright in Public Forum Debate. Whitefish was second with Polson taking third. 

“This is going to be a competitive year with the strength of the Whitefish team. We will be working hard in practice this week,” head coach Tara Norick said.

This upcoming weekend the team competes in their first two-day tournament at the Corvallis Invitational.
