SANDPOINT — A 1-percent sales tax increase to rebuild the grandstands at Barlow Stadium at War Memorial Field will never leave Sandpoint, said Shannon Syth, city treasurer.

Collection of the sales tax, passed by voters Nov. 3, will be similar to collection of the occupancy tax. Businesses will apply with the city clerk for a permit, which gives them a permit number. The treasurer’s office then sends out forms for the tax collection which ask for the total amount of sales and what 1 percent sales tax equals.
