Local girls named to star teams

SOUTH COUNTY — Wahluke and Royal High had a tough time of it in soccer and volleyball this year, but some of the girls were recognized individually in the South Central A Conference East all-league selections.
Two Wahluke girls and one Royal girl made the first team in soccer, and one Royal girl made the first team in volleyball. In addition, Wahluke was voted the sportsmanship trophy in soccer.
The soccer all-league first team included junior forward Liliana Celaya and sophomore defender Elizabeth Bravo of Wahluke. Also on the team is Royal senior midfielder Elsie Delgado.
The all-league second team includes Royal junior midfielder Jennifer Ledezma and Wahluke junior midfielder Blanca Gutierrez.
Volleyball was nearly a shutout for South County. The lone selection was senior middle blocker Lindsey Small of Royal.
