The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for northwestern Montana that includes the Mission Valley, Polson and Flathead Lake as well as several northern Montana areas.

The storm warning will begin at 8 a.m. Tuesday and extend to 5 a.m. Wednesday.

Forecasters expect that an arctic front moving in Tuesday morning will produce snow, and blowing snow.

Forecasters expect the weather will reduce visibilities from blowing and drifting snow and create hazardous travel condition.

Rapidly fall temperatures Tuesday and Tuesday night will likely create wintery road conditions to continue through Wednesday morning.

Snow accumulations are expected to hit  between two to four inches in most valley and higher levels in the mountains.

Forecasters expect northeast winds to gust up to 35 miles per hour locally and up to 50 miles per hour through Bad Rock Canyon.
