The first snowstorm of the winter played havoc with area motorists Tuesday, as eight separate accidents were reported in south Lincoln County.

The first accident was reported at 7:26 a.m., a single-vehicle roll over just north of Angel Island on U.S. Highway 56. Road conditions resulted in a sand truck and de-icer being dispatched to the area to help alleviate poor road conditions.

Two additional accidents were reported on U.S. Highway 2 between 9:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. The first occurred at mile marker 26, when a Chevy Blazer slid off the road. At 9:53 a.m. a second accident was reported, a one-vehicle roll over at a mile marker 25. The 2000 Ford Ranger, driven by Kody Roberts, slid onto the shoulder of the highway and rolled. Neither the driver nor the  passenger were injured in the accident.

A fourth accident occurred just before 11 a.m., when a single vehicle slid off U.S. Highway 2 near Yaak Hill. No injuries were reported as a result of the crash, and no damage was reported to the vehicle, although a tow truck was dispatched.

Four additional slide-related accidents took place between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., two at the junction of U.S. Highway 2 and U.S. Highway 56 near Troy, one at the intersection of California and Eighth Street in Libby and another on Iron Creek Road in Troy. No injuries were reported from any of the accidents, and only minimal vehicle damage.
