Our beloved father and husband, Richard James Blumer Sr., passed away due to complications from esophageal cancer on Friday, Nov. 20, 2015, in Visalia, California. Richard was being comforted by his family at the time of his passing at the age of 73.

He was a kind, caring, and compassionate man who had a great sense of humor and could make people laugh. He was a master craftsman, electrician, and handyman who enjoyed helping others. Richard will be remembered for his kindness and generosity towards his family, friends, and animals.

He was born Sept. 21, 1942.

He was a member of the 1960 class of Flathead County High School in Kalispell. He enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1963 and served for 6 years before being given an honorable discharge. He went on to work as an electrician and helped to construct the Alaska Pipeline. Richard then spent his career working at Prudhoe Bay on the North Slope. Following his career on the North Slope, he became a businessman before moving to California where he ran an asphalt facility.

Richard was a family man who enjoyed spending time with loved ones. He enjoyed working in his shop and being around his family and pets. Richard will be deeply missed by family, friends, and everyone who knew him.

He was preceded in his death by his parents, John and Francis Blumer of Kalispell, and his brothers, Jonathan, Clayton, and Ben.

He is survived by his sister, Blanche Garrett; brothers, Eldon, Larry, and Harold Blumer; his wife, Nanette; his children, Richard Blumer Jr. and Heather, Leilani Lamoreaux and Clint, Johnico Bashford-Blumer and Kary, and Roland Blumer and Cindy; and nine grandchildren.
