Body found in fire

COEUR d’ALENE — A body was found at the scene of a fire near the Sherman Avenue exit just off Interstate 90 early Thursday.
According to a press release, Coeur d’Alene Police detectives responded to the woods between I-90 and Potlatch Road about 4 a.m., after a fire was reported by a passersby. Coeur d’Alene Firefighters arrived on scene and quickly stopped the fire from spreading beyond a wooded area that is approximately 30-by-30 feet.
Firefighters discovered a body in the burned area and called police and Coeur d’Alene Fire Investigators. The area of the fire is unincorporated state land.
Idaho State Police detectives and Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office detectives are also assisting in the investigation.
Detectives and fire investigators have been hampered in completing the investigation due to the scene being too hot to enter.
They were able to begin processing the scene around 11 a.m. and have not yet completed their investigation. The victim of the fire has not been identified.
