LIBBY — Columbia Falls evened the score with Libby, blanking the Loggers 2-0 on Saturday afternoon in Northern A boys soccer play.
Daniel Skinner scored on a penalty kick at 39 minutes and Logan Stephens added an insurance goal with his breakaway shot at 68 minutes.
Libby beat Columbia Falls (4-5 overall, 3-2 league) earlier in the season 4-1.
“It was the Whitefish game that set the tone (for Libby),” Columbia Falls coach O’Brien Byrd said. “We wanted to win that game so bad that we figured out a level of effort and commitment we needed to win that one and applied it to Libby. And we controlled this game.”
Columbia Falls topped Whitefish 6-4 last Saturday.
“We shut out (Libby’s) Cody Wood, the No. 1 scorer in the state (Class A),” Byrd said.
“Not only did we shut him down, we shut them out.”
Byrd said Paxton Fisher, the back line and keeper Brandon Karberg were a major reason Libby failed to score.
