ROYAL CITY — The annual Crab Feed fund-raiser for the support of the Royal Golf Course has been scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 7, but time and place have not yet been announced.

This time the need is greater than in the past. Some costs of operating the RGC – irrigation water for one – may go up severely next year.

“We need donations for the silent auction portion of the Crab Feed,” RGC Office Manager Athena Vetterick said.

Among the auction donations received so far, the golf course has a one-night stay at the Coeur d’Alene Resort and spa in Idaho, along with a lake cruise.

According to Vetterick, all of the funds raised will go to support the golf course in the winter, to pay bills and such, which assists the Royal Golf Association in keeping the golf course open.

“They also will go toward equipment purchases, staff salaries and maintenance,” Vetterick said. “This also helps to provide a cushion to support the course to stay open while it waits for business to pick up in the spring.”

In return for the donations, the golf course is offering rounds of free golf to all businesses and individuals who are willing to donate to the cause. That cause is to keep the golf course open and keep it well maintained for all who enjoy golfing in the Royal City area.

The annual Crab Feed will have a silent auction, raffle, music, games, kid’s table for crafting and all you can eat crab. Steak has been included on the menu this year. Admission tickets will cost $40.

“We hope you will find our cause a great one to donate to as we serve not only Royal City but the surrounding towns as well and would like to continue serving everyone to the best of our ability,” Vetterick said. “Please keep in mind all donations are tax deductible, and we appreciate anything you are willing to donate.”
