Neighbor calls about noisy playtime

A resident on Fourth Avenue West called the Columbia Falls Police Department to report a child screaming in a downstairs residence. Officers checked on the noise, but found it was just kids playing.

A Good Samaritan went to the police department to turn in a purse found on the side of the road.

A caller reported neighbors fighting and screaming  on Seventh Avenue East North. Officers found it was a verbal disagreement only, and the female left for the night to cool off.

A concerned caller reported “lots of vehicles” going in and out of a Fourth Avenue West property. The caller said the people in the vehicles appeared to be juveniles, and was concerned about noise. Responding officers found all was quiet and no one was at the location.

A caller reported seeing a light outside while smoking, and said it appeared to be a man walking up and down the street and through the alley.

A Martha Road resident called to report a vehicle parked in his spot, blocking the entryway.


A man called Whitefish Police Department to report a white Pontiac swerving all over the road on Montana 40.

A man called police to report a stalking situation on Columbia Avenue. He said a man had been trespassing on his property, and that he had security camera footage of the suspect planting a camera on the property. The caller said he took the memory card out of the camera, but wanted to file stalking charges. The caller said the suspect is his girlfriend’s ex.

A Wisconsin Avenue man called to report a bicycle had been stolen out of an unlocked woodshed.

A fight between two men was reported on Central Avenue. The caller said that after the brawl ended, the two involved parties headed toward another bar.

Another fight reportedly broke out between a man and woman near Depot Park, resulting in broken glass on the sidewalk.

A Houston Circle resident called to report hearing shots coming from the area of Lakeshore Drive.


Smith Valley Fire Department responded to a grass fire on Batavia Lane.


Columbia Falls Fire Department responded to a burn pile on Halfmoon Road and a structure fire on Connie Lou Lane.
