Loggers shut out by Columbia Falls 2-0

The Libby Logger boys soccer team fell Saturday to Columbia Falls, evening the season series at one apiece.

The Wildcats scored two goals against Libby and held the Loggers and the state’s Class A leading scorer Cody Wood scoreless in the match. 

“We shut out Cody Wood, the No. 1 scorer in the state,” Columbia Falls coach O’Brien Byrd said after the game.

“It was the Whitefish game that set the tone (for Libby),” Byrd said. “We wanted to win that game so bad that we figured out a level of effort and commitment we needed to win that one and applied it to Libby. And we controlled this game.” 

Libby coach Mark Petersen did not respond to a request for comment on the game.
